How These Art Pieces Are Made?

These images are from "thin sections" of rock so thin that light can pass through them. Viewed under a microscope with a cross-polarized filter, the minerals within the rock display an array of colors and patterns. A portion of sales will support the Appalachian State Geology Student Treasury, aiding in scholarships.
